curl-x Now Supports TikTok: Save Videos From Any Link

curl-x now supports TikTok. Paste the link to any public TikTok video or photo post into curl-x and get the media back as a downloadable file — full-length short links, vm.tiktok.com codes, and regular @user/video/... What's new: TikTok support

curl-x reads a public TikTok post the same way TikTok's own web player and embed widget do, then hands back an actual file instead of a video you can only watch in the app. As of this release it handles:

• Regular TikTok videos, usually with several quality/bitrate options to choose from.
• TikTok photo posts (image slideshows) — each image resolves as its own downloadable file.

This is a launch of an already-working feature, not a beta. If you already paste Twitter/X or Reddit links into curl-x, TikTok links now go through the exact same flow.

Which TikTok links work

curl-x needs a link to one specific post. All of these work:

Short links are the common case on mobile, since TikTok's Share sheet usually copies a vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com code rather than the full URL — curl-x follows the redirect automatically, so paste it exactly as copied. How to download a TikTok video with curl-x

1. Open the specific video or photo post you want, not your For You feed or a profile.
2. Tap Share, then Copy Link — this gives you a vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com short link on mobile, or copy the full URL from the address bar on desktop.
3. Paste the link into curl-x and start the extraction.
4. Let curl-x resolve the post. For a video it lists the available quality tiers; for a photo post it lists each image.
5. Choose a quality tier (or an image, for slideshows) — higher bitrate for archiving, a lighter option if you just want a quick copy.
6. Save the file. Video comes back as MP4; photo-post images come back as JPEGs.

The curl trick works on TikTok too

curl-x's signature move is that the same link works two ways depending on who's asking. TikTok posts get a dedicated page at curl-x.com/tiktok/<id>, so hitting it from a CLI client streams the file directly instead of the HTML page:

Why TikTok download links expire (and why that's fine)

TikTok's video CDN URLs are session-signed and short-lived by design — that's true whether you get them from curl-x, from the app's own share sheet, or from any other tool. Because of that, curl-x doesn't hand you a static CDN link and hope it's still alive later: TikTok video downloads are re-resolved fresh at download time, against the original post URL, every time you click download. What's not supported

We'd rather tell you plainly what curl-x won't do than let a query rank for something it can't deliver:

• Deleted, region-blocked, or removed posts. No public post data means no media to fetch.
• Watermark removal. curl-x saves the video TikTok actually serves; it does not run a separate watermark-stripping pass.
